I'm going away to a Doctor Who convention this weekend - wheeee! I haven't been to one in about the last 8 or 9 years (my last time, I was still at university), so it'll be a little bit like stepping back in time for me.

I've been a big fan of Who for just about my entire life. In fact, pretty much the very first thing I can ever remember was when I was watching the debut of "Trial of a Timelord", starring Colin Baker. That was back at the tail-end of 1986, putting me at only a little bit over the age of 4 at the time. I've been watching Who ever since. My dad got me - and my big sister - into the show, as he'd been watching it almost since it first aired in '63. His greatest wish would be to take a modern TV and VCR and go back to record all the old shows as they were broadcast, since some were destroyed by the BBC in the early 70s (boo....).

Annoyingly, while I will be on this cool convention trip to Newcastle for a long weekend, I will be MISSING the latest episode of Who, which is going out on BBC1 this Saturday! You'd think the convention organisers would realise that fans would want to be at home to record (and keep) the winter special, wouldn't you?

Anyhow, the upshot of this is, I won't be on dA - or the rest of the internet - for a long weekend. I shall be leaving on Friday morning (early, to avoid traffic), and shan't return until...well, I'm not really sure when. If we drive home immediately after the convention finishes (which will likely be about 6pm Sunday), we might make it back by sometime shortly after midnight. I don't think we're booked for three nights, but if we are, we'll probably be back early Monday afternoon instead. But super-late on Sunday is looking more likely.

And to CaptShade, I'll be meeting Sarah Sutton in person! I'm taking my poster of Nyssa in purple lingerie to get signed by her, 'cos it'll be sooo awesome! (I think it'll get quite a reaction when I unroll it, too )
